2015 Building Designers Association awards

Local building designers Arche Design Services were recognized recently at the Building Designers Association SA – Design Excellence Awards, held at the Hilton Hotel in Adelaide. Judged by industry & media professionals, the awards acknowledge the talent of designers who deliver outstanding design of new housing, apartments, renovations/extensions and commercial-industrial projects.

Design manager Jamie Knowling submitted two projects into this year’s awards:
“Athana”: a single storey residence in Stasinowsky Court, Loxton
“Pyap View”: a single storey residence overlooking the Murray River at Pyap

“Athana” was judged the winner in the category New Residential Building $300,000-$500,000.

“Pyap View” was judged the winner in the category Energy Efficiency in Design. It also received commendations in the categories New Residential Building $500,000-$1million and Sustainable Building – Residential.

Jamie was extremely proud of the awards and commented’
“A great deal of time, effort and creativity goes into crafting unique designs for our clients.
Our projects were judged on their ability to meet the design brief, the form & function of the buildings, how well they made the most of each sites unique features, the use of appropriate materials and the incorporation of energy efficiency & sustainable design principles.
To receive these awards and commendations from the judging panel is recognition of our success in achieving all of these aspects for our clients within the final design.
It was great to have clients that were open to creative ideas and desired a house that was different from what everyone else is building.”

As winners in the SA Design Excellence Awards, both projects will now be judged against project from other states in the upcoming national Design Excellence Awards to be held in Melbourne in October.

This recognition follows on from other Building Designers Australia awards received in recent years.
